I am taking this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is April Swenby and I live in a small town in NW Minnesota. My love affair with web-design began in 1998 when I attended my first year of college. While majoring in software education, an elective I chose was Adobe PageMaker. While PageMaker is not my software of choice, as I explored that software and learned the fundamentals of digital design, I discovered my creative side. There was so much a person could do to express themselves!
After college, I continued to further my education class by class, day by day in between an already regular work schedule. Through a mutual friend, I was introduced to my inspiration. She gave me the motivation I needed to continue my education further (with my large family – this is no easy task) and also showed me the power of self teaching. I continue to use her as my mentor (as long as she’ll have me). Thanks Kris!
Because I yearned for more education in the area of web design and because of Kris’s example, I went back to college in 2007. I graduated in the spring of 2011 with my web-graphic design degree. I have learned the more I know the less I know – but also the more I am willing to learn. So I challenge you, my prospective client to challenge me! I am currently back to school again, but this time I am going to tackle the challenging concepts of programming!
So take a look around and be sure to check out my Portfolio - I hope you like what you see and I hope this site gives you some inspiration about what can be done for your growing business.
Do you have a spam issue on this site; I also am a blogger, and I was wondering your situation; many of us have created some nice practices and we are looking to trade techniques with others, why not shoot me an e-mail if interested.
Hello Dudley – GREAT QUESTION! Yes, unfortunately, WordPress sites do contain a lot of spam. The comments were significant at first – but now they are less and less. For this site, I usually ignore the ones that are not pertinent to web-design – The only way that I can think of to avoid the spam, is to avoid Content Management systems like WordPress. I have asked other designers and coding individual pages within a site to work as a blog independently (not using WordPress) should solve the problem; however, that is a more costly solution. My clients have chosen to “put up with the spam” because the cost benefits of using WordPress far outweigh the annoying spam letters…..

Hi, do you have a facebook fan page for your blog?”;:,
Hello Drumwright11@gmail.com. Thanks for your inquiry. I do not have a Facebook fan page. I should, but right now, as you can read, I’m still in school, working on web-sites raising kids and working part-time. It would be one more thing to monitor! But many of my customers definately take advantage of Facebook and I think it is a great idea and a great free way to market your products and your site!
